Goals and Values

When I first started thinking about working for myself, I started to think about what my goals and values were. What did I want to achieve? What sort of things were important to me both personally, and professionally? There was a moment where I thought about what it would be like to grow and scale.

What would it be like having a couple of people working with me? What would that would look like? Regardless of all those kind of ‘what ifs’, it left me questioning myself… What kind of boss would I be?

Forcing myself to have that self-reflection was a confronting thought process – I’d only ever worked for other people, and never myself. When I started to think about the kind of traits that I would want to have as a leader; as a mentor, I realised all I had to do was look back at a number of people that I’d worked with, and in most cases, do the complete opposite.

Explore Your Values.

The more I thought about starting WXW, and the more detailed I got in my planning. There was that point where I realised that I needed to establish some clarity about my goals and values. How will I approach working with people? What kind of values do I have and how do they align with my target audience?

It may sound like a strange process, because I initially looked at it as something that would just happen. It would be organic. Just like with anybody else, I would just be able to gauge whether or not somebody would be the right fit. Turns out, that’s not actually how it works.

I did some work on establishing my values, and prioritising them, and looking at those from a client perspective. In the end, I realised that the ONLY thing that truly mattered, when you strip it right back to absolute basics, was to be a decent. human. being.

One of my key values? Be Human.

When working with my clients, I want them to feel valued and supported. I want every client to have somebody who is going to genuinely listen to their ideas. People want to feel like they’re being heard; they want to feel understood – that’s what I want my clients to feel. It’s important for me to ensure they don’t feel like a number on a page. It’s not going to be a relationship where I’m walking in and telling you how things are going to be done, because this is what I do, and I know better and you know nothing.

No.

That’s the kind of behaviour that may exist with other businesses, but not mine.

I strongly believe in establishing and developing great working relationships with people – I want to do whatever I can to ensure that you start to thrive. Every client is a partnership, and partners support each other. That’s what I aim for with every client.
